Washington Weather and What To Do About It

Rain, Rain, Rain and there is very little one can do about it. For a few of the rainy seasons I sat around, complained and basically drove everyone around me crazy with my sulking. This season I finally decided to do something about it.

Over the years I have become a pretty good Blackjack player and enjoy playing at good Casino’s. Not that there are really any good Casino’s. All of them do there best to beat you and for the most part they do a pretty good job of it

There is a small Indian Casino not to far ( 20 min. ) from where we live and for most of this winter I have been making the trip to play Blackjack each week and sometimes twice a week if the weather is really getting to me.

Early on this winter I sat at a table that had 5 friends playing at it. Four women and one fellow. All around my age. They were a fun bunch and to make a long story short I started meeting them every Thursday and with there being six of us, we take up the whole table. Every one of these new found friends play very well, have good money management skills. Because of good skills, and ‘by the book’ play rarely does anyone have to go back to their pocket after their original buy in, so it a fun 3 or so hours of play, with rarely anyone ‘tapping out’. We all leave together as none of us like to drive after dark. We have 3 hours of fun and laughter.

It turns out that this little band of 5 all worked together at a Bank and are now retired. They get together once a week, meet for lunch, and then come to the Casino. They call themselves “The Book Club”.

We are well in to this lousy weather season and I have joined them for many weeks now. I have sort of been adopted as an honorary member although I have not yet been invited to join them for lunch. That may be however because I live on the fringe of where they all live. I guess I am just happy to be a part of a fun bunch, who enjoys each others company, and helps to make the rainy season somewhat tolerable.

Even though I had a loosing session today, I am up over $2,000.00 for this Winter Season and sure have had a fun time playing with the “Book Club”.
